Alan C. Parent, M.D., F.A.C.S. was born and raised in metropolitan Detroit. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan in 1992. In 1997 Dr. Parent graduated with honors from Wayne State University School of Medicine. Dr. Parent then completed a surgical internship and ophthalmology residency at Rush University in Chicago. He joined Cataract and Eye Consultants of Michigan in 2001.

Dr. Parent is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and serves on committees for the Michigan State Medical Society and Macomb County Medical Society.

In addition to private practice, Dr. Parent is also a member of the faculty at the nationally renowned Kresge Eye Institute in Detroit. Here he serves as Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of Surgical Education for the Ophthalmology residency program.

Dr. Parent is an anterior segment surgeon specializing in laser refractive (LASIK) and cataract/lens implant surgery. He also has extensive experience in treating patients with glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye disease.

Dr. Parent is married with two children. He enjoys golf, skiing,
and attending home football games for the
Michigan Wolverines and the Detroit Lions.
