Dr. Alan C. Parent, M.D., F.A.C.S. Cataract & Eye Consultant of Michigan

Dr. Alan C. Parent was the first eye surgeon in southeastern Michigan to perform laser cataract surgery with the LensX laser.

Born and raised in metropolitan Detroit, he received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan in 1992. In 1997, Dr. Parent graduated with honors from Wayne State University School of Medicine. Dr. Parent then completed a surgical internship and ophthalmology residency at Rush University in Chicago. He joined Cataract and Eye Consultants of Michigan in 2001.

Dr. Parent is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and serves on committees for the Michigan State Medical Society and Macomb County Medical Society.

In addition to private practice, Dr. Alan C. Parent is also a member of the faculty at the nationally renowned Kresge Eye Institute. Here he serves as Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of Surgical Education for the Ophthalmology residency program.

Dr. Parent specializes in advanced laser cataract removal with premium intraocular lenses. He also have extensive experience in LASIK and treating patients with glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease. He is married with three children, and enjoys golf, skiing and attending football games for the Michigan Wolverines.
